SKB Industrial Case Product Development
Update
By ROBERT WILKES, VP Industrial Division, Engineering and
Product Development Team
2005.02.05 - As we roll into 2005 we here at SKB are expecting
this to be a banner year for growth, with exciting plans once again
for product development.
Here is a recap of the things we have accomplished since November
2004:
- We have completed the 3SKB-R908U24 shock rack and
they are now in stock for immediate delivery. This new design is an 8U
24” deep shock rack
that has all of the same great features that are allowing this line to
have such great success in the marketplace. These standard features include
(patent pending) compound hinged doors, black powder coated stainless
steel latches, removable 4 ½” casters, eight HM-245 elastomeric
shock (load range of 40 to 150 lbs) with provisions to add additional
shocks for an extended payload range, gasketed doors, and pressure relief
valve.

- We are in development on two new 30” deep shock rack cases! The
first size that you will see is an 8U and that will be followed by a 6U.
These cases will have all of the same great features that our 24” deep
series comes standard with. I expect to have both of these new cases completed
by early spring.
- We have completed our new 3R3214-15B Mil-Standard
case. This product is now in stock for immediate shipment in the –EW version and –CW
version. These cases comes standard with wheels and pull handle, and all
of the other standard features found on our Mil-Standard line such as cushion
grip spring loaded injection molded lift handles, black powder coated stainless
steel hardware, and automatic pressure equalization valve.
- We
have completed our newest size of the Injection molded Mil-Standard line.
This case is part number 3I-2015-10B and includes wheels and a pull handle
just like the airline carry-on. All three versions, -E, -C, and –D
are now available.

- We have just completed the design
phase of 3I series size #5. This new size will be our part number 3I-2015-7
and will be 20 ½” left
to right, 15 ½” front to back, and a 2” lid over a 5 ½” base.
This case should be available in April 2005.

- We have just finished the first test run on the Worlds
Finest hard shell laptop case. This case will be our part number 3I-1813-5B,
and will be available with the laptop interior, cube foam, padded divider,
and empty. We had 5 samples on display at the NAMM show (January 20-23)
in Anaheim California . Here is a sneak peak of the design just to give you
an idea.

- We are also working on size #6 and
7 in this Mil-Standard Injection Molded series. More information will be
very soon.
- Here are a couple of recent application
pictures that have been submitted by distributors. This is a 200 kg
calibration weight that was not terribly delicate, but had to be protected
so that it would not be compromised. The Roto-X 3SKB-2424-22 case worked
just fine in this application.
