Hammond offers NEW IP66/1550 Range of Diecast Enclosures

Overview

Hammond Electronics has launched the initial six sizes in the new 1550 family, a range of industry standard sizes small die-cast aluminium enclosures that provide robust mechanical protection and good EMC attenuation levels, making them suitable for a use in a wide variety of applications. The full range will consist of sixteen sizes, all of which will be available by the end of 2009. Available with a natural or black epoxy powder coated finish, the units are supplied in two versions, standard and watertight. The watertight units are supplied with a separate compressible self-adhesive gasket that, when fitted between the lid and the base, provides dust and water sealing to IP66, enabling them to be used in both benign and hostile environments. The thin wall aluminium enclosures have high impact strength but are also easily drilled and punched to accept cables, switches and indicators as required. The initially available sizes range from 60 x 55 x 26mm to 115 x 90 x 51mm; the largest size in the family, to be introduced later in the year, will be 275 x 175 x 65mm.

Gasketed, Watertight version (1550W series)

Features

• Rugged, diecast aluminum alloy (tough yet easy to machine), electronic instrument enclosure.
• Lap joint construction with a self-adhesive, EVA foam gasket for the lid provides protection against access of dust and water.
• Unpainted version is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges.
• Painted version is painted with tough polyester powder paint for a lasting finish, even after machining. Paint is only applied to the exterior surface and black screws are included to enhance appearance.
• Four M3.5 x 0.6 mm stainless steel, Philips head, machine screws secure lid - into factory tapped holes.
• Designed to meet IP66 (with properly installed gasket and lid screws torqued at 55 cN.m).
• No internal ribs for easy installation of connectors without interference or additional milling.
• Low side wall draft angle (2 degrees or less) for easy P.C. board mounting

Non-Watertight version (1550 series)

• Unpainted version is vibra finished for a smooth surface with no sharp edges.
• Painted version is painted with tough polyester powder paint for a lasting finish, even after machining. Paint is only applied to the exterior surface and black screws are included to enhance appearance.
• Four M3.5 x 0.6 mm stainless steel, Philips head, machine screws secure lid - into factory tapped holes.
• Designed to meet IP54
• No internal ribs for easy installation of connectors without interference or additional milling.
• Low side wall draft angle (2 degrees or less) for easy P.C. board mounting.
